Communication:
Canyons may be noisy and the stakes may be high. As such, clear and concise communication is essential and may be achieved through verbal discussion, hand and whistle signals.
Problem-solving:
Many different obstacles may be found within a canyon including rappels, jumps, slides and climbs. Every obstacle is different and requires collaborative problem solving and to navigate safely.
Rapid, critical-thinking:
Canyons are dynamic environments and may change rapidly. Water, for example, stops for no-one. Planning and well-intentioned rapid thinking is key.
Trust:
Your safety and the safety of your group may be in someone else's hands while in the canyon. Fostering trust in one another is crucial. If something looks wrong or is not done correctly, it is everyone’s job to speak out for safety.
Well-being:
The physical and mental health benefits of recreating in the outdoors are numerous. Research suggests that the outdoors may significantly improve sleep, recovery and productivity.
Fun:
We wouldn’t do it if it weren’t loads of fun! Ultimately, our goal is to seek enjoyment and pleasure in these beautiful places. Give your employees a unique trip to look forward to.

But is it safe?

FAQ

We accommodate groups ranging from 2 to 100 participants. Whether you’re a small team or a large group, we’re ready to work with you!

Participants need to bring their own winter hiking boots and appropriate winter clothing, similar to what you’d wear for skiing. We’ll provide all other necessary equipment.

We partner with local lodges to enhance your experience. In Golden, we work with Moberly Lodge, and for retreats near Abraham Lake, we collaborate with Aurum Lodge.

Our Team Work retreat packages include meals, ensuring you stay fueled and focused during your experience.

To reach Abraham Lake, a private vehicle or hired shuttle is required. Golden is accessible by bus from Calgary and Vancouver, but bus services are limited, so we recommend planning ahead.

A third of the total price is non-refundable. However, if you cancel at least 5 days before the retreat, you’ll receive a refund of the remaining two-thirds. Cancellations made less than 5 days prior are not eligible for a refund.

For safety reasons, canyoning will be canceled if the conditions are not safe. In this case you will receive a full refund.

Yes, the water is cold, but with the right gear we provide, participants typically stay comfortable and can fully enjoy the experience! In winter we stay dry on the Ice Canyoning tour.

If a participant cancels at least 5 days before the retreat, they will receive a refund for two-thirds of the total cost. Unfortunately, cancellations made within 5 days of the event are non-refundable.

No, there are no boats involved in canyoning. It’s common to confuse canyoning with canoeing or kayaking, which are water sports involving boats. Canyoning, by contrast, is an adventurous activity that involves navigating through canyons on foot, using techniques like rappelling and swimming.

Not exactly. While rock climbing may occasionally be used to access or exit certain canyons, it’s not a core part of canyoning. Instead of ascending cliffs, canyoning focuses on descending through canyons. However, some tours may require participants to traverse a short via ferrata section.

Our guides take great pride in helping participants overcome their fears during a tour. We understand that canyoning can be challenging, and our guides are patient and ready to assist anyone who wants to push their boundaries. If you have any fears or concerns, please let your guide know beforehand so we can ensure you’re paired with a supportive and patient group.
