What are you signing up for !?

Our Heart Creek Canyon tour is designed for individuals who are new to Canyoning or have limited experience and possess moderate physical fitness. Please note that you will need to hike up two short but steep hills on the hike in, even if we proceed at a relaxed pace.

Expect to:

  • Be in a mixed level group (check our other tours and private options if you want a more customized experience)
  • Hike up the creek for 2.8km/200m elevation gain with scenic views
  • Learn the art of canyon rappelling on short dry drops in the upper canyon (early season this section might also be flowing water)
  • Finish with a stunning 18-meter waterfall
  • Explore a scenic canyon and work your way down as a team
  • Always be supported by your guide

Meeting location and itinerary

Meet

At the Heart Creek parking lot (15 minutes east of downtown Canmore), 15 minutes before the start time

Gear &
safety briefing

You will have a quick chat with your guide to discuss the tour progression, equipment and safety.

Canyon access

We hike up to the upper entrance of the canyon, usually between 30 and 45 minutes of hiking (3km / 200 meters elevation gain)

Canyoning

From there, we descend the upper canyon. This section is fun and scenic. Minimal exposure allows everyone to get comfortable on rope at their own pace

Short walk

5 minutes walk from the end of the upper section, we reach the last section of canyon

Rappeling

A stunning waterfall and a full-on 18-meter rappel for the grand finale! Those who don't feel comfortable have the option to walk around this section.

Way back

Hike back to the parking lot.

Do you have any questions?

Do you have any questions?

Everyone has their own comfort level, and our guides love to encourage participants to challenge their fears by facilitating a  safe and supportive environment.

If you experience severe vertigo or panic even at low height please contact us to discuss potential options.

If there are any doubts about fitness please contact us.

The approach to the canyon is often the most tiring part of the day. Expect a 1km hike at a slight incline finishing with a short steep section. We will return to the car along the same trail at the end of the day. The canyon descent itself is not very strenuous

Every tour is different so please read the information on the tour page. Please contact us for larger group bookings. We have previously organized events with up to 80 participants in a single day and can facilitate more with enough notice!

If you don’t find your answer, check out our min FAQ page or feel free to contact us.
